Hospice of Helping Hands
Our Mission : Embracing Life. Affirming Worth. Offering Hope.
Since 1979, Hospice of Helping Hands, Inc. has been working to serve the greater good of the community by providing expert hospice care to our friends and neighbors. As a non-profit hospice program, Hospice of Helping Hands has also been able to provide additional community services including free grief support groups, community educational programs, and specialized family bereavement camp –Camp Warm Hearts. With a history that started with a group of big-hearted volunteers that served a couple patients at a time, Hospice of Helping Hands has grown with the John Tolfree Health System, now serving over 150 patients a year. Hospice services are available for a variety of life-limiting conditions no longer responsive to curative treatments. All hospice patients are admitted to hospice care under a specified diagnosis that has explicit criteria. Possible hospice diagnoses include:
- Cancer
- Heart Disease
- Dementia/Alzheimer’s
- Lung Disease/COPD
- Stroke/Coma
- ALS(LouGehrig’s)/Parkinson’s
- Multiple Sclerosis
Hospice services include a combination of nursing, social work, spiritual, home health aide, and respite visits. Additional services beyond direct-care visits include: medications, equipment and supplies related to a patient’s terminal illness. The Hospice of Helping Hands’ service area includes Arenac, Crawford, Gladwin, Iosco, Ogemaw, Oscoda, and Roscommon counties. Choosing a hospice program to care for your loved one is your choice. Hospice of Helping Hands (HOHH) is the affiliate hospice of the John Tolfree Health System and the preferred hospice provider of West Branch Regional Medical Center.
